InDesign is the most commonly used software for creating multi-page documents that hold text and images. From magazines and advertising, to marketing and publishing, this is the program that is used for print production. This course will cover basic skills: becoming familiar with the tools, creating and saving documents, working with color and type, making style sheets and master pages.
We will also cover a few more advanced skills such as creating custom documents, working with layers, incorporating effects and manipulating images brought in from Illustrator and Photoshop. There will be a few design assignments that make use of the skills covered in class. This class will take place in our Media Lab, equipped with fully-loaded iMac design workstations. Basic computer literacy is required for this course.
