This will be the third such increase under the current corporate collective agreement since it came into force in December 2015. Following this increase, members will benefit from two additional increases under the current agreement – the next increase in July 2018 and then in July 2019. The association`s secretary was Ron Iddles between 2014 and 2016.   Basic salary begins at approximately $109,474 per year, with all other conditions of employment under the 2016 TPAV Enterprise Agreement. In 2016 – in 2019, from December 1, 2015, Victoria police officers were offered an increase of 2.5% per year for four years. First, the proposed new agreement was strongly rejected by the police association because, in reality, only a 0.3% increase after inflation was recorded.   In December 2015, the police association changed its position and supported the new EB.  On February 15, 2016, Victoria Police members voted for the Enterprise Bargain Agreement 2016 -2019. The result of the vote was announced on 4 March 2016, but the new EB came into force on 1 December 2015.   Under the new EB, Victoria police officers receive higher penalties for weekend work, anti-social and intrusive weekend work, increased prosecutors` pay and a number of other benefits and claims.  The new EB did not contain the ranks of the commanders and above.  Members are reminded that 100 per cent of all Police Association subscriptions paid in the 2016/2017 financial year are tax deductible.
At the end of the fiscal year, members will soon turn to filing their 2016/17 tax returns. In order for these enhanced benefits to remain sustainable over the long term and to keep up with the cost of living, it is necessary to impose a small increase of 50 cents per week on members` contributions. This is the first time in nearly 10 years that this component of member subs will increase to fund our wide range of wellness benefits. We always intend to limit these increases to a minimum for as long as possible. The (former) police association was established in 1917 due to low wages and poor working conditions, then supported by Victorian police officers. The police filed a long-standing complaint about his pension plan, which was abandoned in 1902 by the Victorian government. Following the Victorian police strike in 1923, which the organization never sanctioned, the Police Pensions Act recognized the organization in 1923 as the only workers` organization with which the state government would deal with issues of police welfare and effectiveness. A substantial increase in wages and improved working conditions resulted from the law, but it also made it illegal for members of the force to join a “political or industrial organization” and threatened a 12-month prison sentence for any member who retained his services or caused discontent.  From that date, the death benefit payable to members in the event of the loss of their spouse or child will be increased by 1500 usd to USD 7,000, while the benefit payable to members in the event of a child born in life will be increased from 500 to 2000 USD.
